In my journey from menstruating female through some difficulty in becoming pregnant, pregnancy, childbirth and peri-menapause, I realized what a blessing acupuncture and herbs have been for me through this process. I felt a strong desire to offer help in a similar way to women experiencing these natural happenings to their bodies. Although my background is in Sports medicine I chose to study Chinese herbs with a gynecology specialist. Her knowledge and background make over 30 years of herbal teachings available to the women I treat. Both personally and professionally I have found acupuncture and herbs effective for
- Dysmenorrhea and ammenorrhea
- Breast tenderness, irritability and headaches
- Morning sickness, threatened miscarriage, breech turning and labor induction
- Insufficient lactation, post childbirth recovery
- Child allergy and croup
- Menopausal and pre-menopausal symptoms
One of the benefits of using Chinese herbs and acupuncture is the lack of side effects and the effectiveness of this medicine. For painful and heavy menstruation acupuncture and herbs can manage symptoms in almost 95% of cases. In situations like morning sickness I have seen women who are continually nauseous and losing weight have no problems with nausea after 2 weeks of acupuncture. Acupuncture is shown to have over a 90% effective rate for turning breech babies. I can usually induced labor after one (very intense) treatment. I have used acupuncture and herbs to help many women conceive, including women with long periods of infertility, one of over 10 years. For lactating women acupuncture can relieve aches, pains, increase lactation and help ease depression, and low energy, all without affecting the milk your baby is drinking. I have found Chinese herbs effective both personally and professionally in pre-menopause and menopause for hot flashes, dryness and energy/appetite losses. Being a woman means our lives are full with nurturing others, climbing the corporate ladder, managing households, school, defining and redefining our personal success. We need to return to our bodies a level of care and support that doesn't undermine us later or treat for short-term results. Acupuncture and Chinese herbs are an approach that embodies the wisdom of holistic healing. |
